The story of Michael Collins is set against the backdrop of the Irish War of Independence and the subsequent Civil War. The musical drama chronicles the life, legacy, and untimely demise of one of Ireland’s most iconic and enigmatic figures, Michael Collins.

The musical drama begins with a young Michael Collins growing up in rural Ireland where he witnesses firsthand the injustices inflicted upon the Irish people. Inspired by the spirit of rebellion and guided by his unyielding determination, Collins becomes a pivotal figure in the Irish Republican Brotherhood, fighting for Ireland’s independence.

This powerful musical drama follows the true story of Michael Collins’, the Irish Rebel, and his battle for peace during the 1916 Easter Rising and all that unfolded thereafter. Through friendships and love, both lost and found, an indelible part of our history is laid bare.

Gorey Musical Society is honoured to be awarded the rights to bring this musical drama to the stage and share it with our community.

The musical drama was written by Bryan Flynn in 2012. Musical arrangements and orchestrations by David Wray. Additional musical arrangements and original musical direction by David Hayes.
